How2: Create a Favicon icon for your Web Site or Blog

What is a favicon? A favicon is the tiny 16 x 16 image that’s associated with your web page. If installed properly it will show up to the left of your web address as well as in other places like the tabs of a tabbed browser like Firefox.

How2: Change Your WordPress 2.5.1 Favicon icon

I wanted to change the TYsTIPS.com’s favicon (the tiny image associated with a web site’s name/url). It turns out that there are a lot of posts about how to do this, but the method has changed for the newest version of WordPress.org (currently version 2.5.1) so the old methods don’t work. Also, this only works if you are using WordPress.org, WordPress.com users don’t have access to the necessary files to make this change - sorry!

Here’s my generic favicon in Internet Explorer:

And here’s my generic favicon in Firefox (notice Yahoo’s nice little favicon - I’ve got favicon envy!).

Changing your favicon in WordPress 2.5.1 isn’t hard, you just have to make sure you’re following the proper directions for your version of WordPress. So, for WordPress version 2.5.1 here’s the steps:

Have you ever stumbled across a site and really liked its color scheme? If so did you wish you had an easy way to discover the hexadecimal color codes of the colors the designer used?

Or maybe you just set up your blog with a custom theme and you want a quick and easy way to incorporate the colors of your new theme into your Adsense ads.

Regardless of the reason, any self respecting blogger or web designer needs a color picker in his or her proverbial toolbox. Because lets face it, if you want to figure out the hex code for a color on a web page, you really only have 2 options. You could dig into the HTML or CSS to find out the color codes (not fun), or you could use a color picker!

Designing a 125 x 125 EntreCard logo or ad with Free125Cards.com

I recently joined the EntreCard community as a way to help drive traffic to my site. I assumed that I’d have ample designs to choose from for my logo during the signup process. Boy was I wrong! The best logo I could come up with through EntreCard was this:

Simply hideous. Oddly, EntreCard fully admits that their pre-designed logos are lame. So what can you do to spruce up your EntreCard logo or ad?
