TYsTIPS.com currently uses the WPTP-Chocolate theme (by wpthemesplugin), sponsored and supported by www.web-hosting-top.com. A nice feature of this theme is a very clean spot in the top left corner of the header to place a prominent 468×60 adsense banner add. Placing the add is pretty simple, once you know where to paste the adsense script.

To place a banner add into the theme you need to edit the header.php file. Your old header

.php file has the following code that results in displaying the generic 468×60 banner image holder (you can click on the images for a larger view).

You want to replace the code between the class=”header-ads” <div> tags with a copy of the adsense code you generated for your 468×60 banner. Your edited header.php file should look something like this (Note: I’ve erased my publisher ID for security purposes).

It may take a few minutes for your banner to display properly. Mine showed up after I hit refresh a few times over about 3 minutes. Also, even though my adsense script is for image adds only, I noticed that there were a few text and humanitarian adds mixed in. That may be due to the fact that it was a new add on a new blog with very little content for Google to use for generating “targeted” adds.
